Read, son! What good is laziness? One who does not read becomes a porter, while a scholar is honored royally. Read, son, every day! Read, son, always; keep it forever in your heart. A king is honored in his own land, knowledge is honored everywhere. Scholarship and rulership are never equal: a king is honored in his own land, the sage is honored everywhere.

A ruler born blind is better than one without learning; the blind one sees by means of a scout, while the one void of learning sees not at all.
